My History with Red
In 2016, I stumbled upon an instance of Red whilst modding the R6 ANZ discord server. The server owner ran the bot (its name was “BreachBot”) and I was fascinated by all of the awesome features he could add to it on command. When he became inactive and no longer maintained his bot, I decided to create my own Red instance as its replacement, which led me to creating cogs to assist the admins and mods of that server.
When I discovered that the Twentysix and his team were rewriting all of Red for V3, I really wanted to help out. I quickly jumped on board and contributed to the rewrite as much as I could, whether it was through porting V2 cogs, adding/suggesting new features, maintaining parts of the core API or just engaging in design discussions. My first major contribution was porting the Trivia cog! Eventually, I was invited to become a core developer of Red, and since then I’ve been doing what I can to ensure V3 is the best it can be for all users, cog creators and maintainers of Red.
About Me Personally
I’m a university student, studying Computer Engineering, living in Sydney. I’m originally from a regional town called Tamworth, and in fact I learned to code in my final two years at a public high school there! There were 3 students in my Software Development class, and it happened to be my favourite subject - it’s probably the main reason I do what I’m doing today!
